Lancaster Sheriff’s Office Arrests 20-Year-Old On Fentanyl Trafficking Charges

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. – 20-year-old Ja’Darrius Truesdale has been arrested and charged after a fentanyl trafficking investigation in Lancaster County, according to a news release.

The release states that the investigation began after the Lancaster County Multijurisdictional Narcotics Task Force received information that Truesdale was selling fentanyl from his residence on Legend Road.

Two purchases of fentanyl were bought from the home as a part of the investigation, resulting in a search warrant being obtained, as said in the release.

The search warrant was served by multiple departments and Truesdale was found in the residence along with several other adults and a small child.

Deputies say during the search, agents found:

  • 6.79 grams of fentanyl
  • Three bottles of methadone
  • 3.6 grams of marijuana
  • Digital scales
  • Three handguns.
    • A .45 caliber pistol
      • The pistol as equipped with a switch that allowed it to fire in automatic mode
    • A .40 caliber pistol
    • A .22 caliber revolver

Truesdale was taken into custody and charged with:

  • Trafficking fentanyl 4-14 grams
  • Possession with intent to distribute methadone
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession of a machine gun
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime

“Fentanyl has been with us for a while and continues to plague our community,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “We’re working hard to ferret out those who are dealing in it, and this was a very successful investigation which resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of Fentanyl and other drugs and a significant arrest. I’m also pleased that we located the pistol switch and got it off the street. These devices serve no purpose and convert a handgun into something it was never intended to be.”
