All northbound lanes on Interstate 85 are closed approximately five miles north of the South Carolina border due to a serious car accident.
The highway is shut down near Kings Mountain Boulevard at Exit 5 in Cleveland County. Traffic is backed up into South Carolina near Tribal Road/State Road S-11 99.
Drivers are asked to take Exit 5, turn left onto Kings Mountain Boulevard and then turn right on US 74 Business to return to I-85.
The highway is expected to be closed until around 4:30 p.m.
No additional details about the collision have been released.
