Man Killed In Attempted Armed Robbery In Kings Mountain
KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. – A Loomis Fargo employee was shot and killed during an attempted armed robbery in Kings Mountain on Wednesday morning, according to the Kings Mountain Police Department.
Around 9 a.m., police were dispatched to East King Street in regards to an unresponsive subject in the Prescriptions Plus parking lot.
Upon arrival, they located a Loomis Fargo employee laying on the ground next to an unsecure ATM machine.
The employee, 29-year-old Richard Henderson IV, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper right chest area. CPR was administered for several minutes but Henderson died from his injuries.
Investigators said a black man, operating a black Jeep Compass Freedom Edition, arrived prior to the shooting and left shortly after. The vehicle has a star on the hood.
This shooting is under an active investigation by the FBI and the Kings Mountain Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 704-734-0444. Officers say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him and call 911.
