Cooler & Cloudier Days Ahead
Highs will struggle to clear the 50s across the board on Monday.
November’s first weekend is off to a wonderful start, but cooler and cloudier days are ahead as we move into the first full workweek of the month. A strong ridge of high pressure continues to our north, shoving cooler air into the Carolinas from the northeast. Much like last week, a classic winter wedge greets us by Sunday evening. While clouds won’t cover the entirety of the sky through the second half of the weekend, temperatures will end up much cooler on Sunday in the upper 60s across the Piedmont and and Foothills. Areas to the south and east of the Queen City may crack 70º to close out the weekend.
The wedge digs in deeper on Monday. Highs will struggle to clear the 50s along I-85 and to the northwest to kick off the workweek. A few showers may also roll into our area Monday evening as moisture is picked up from the Atlantic. Winds are restored out of a more southeasterly direction by Tuesday, and temperatures respond accordingly. Scattered light rain and and clouds will do their best to keep us cooler, but highs should rise well into the 70s on Election Day across the Metro. Rain chances and 70s will stick around through the back half of next week.
Our newest named storm has formed in the open Atlantic. Tropical Storm Patty will continue to trek eastward over the coming days, bringing wind and rain to Europe – but the fledgling system will stay far away from the United States. We’ll want to keep our eyes on a potential storm forming in the Caribbean – models are trending toward this storm arriving in the Gulf of Mexico by next weekend. The next name on the 2024 list is Rafael.
