CHARLOTTE, NC – A man wanted for a deadly shooting in southwest Charlotte has been arrested in Hickory.
CMPD’s Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), along with the United States Secret Service and the Hickory Police Department, arrested 41-year-old Shamario Bethea for his involvement in the murder of Curtis Lampkin.
Bethea is charged with murder, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the October 7, 2024 shooting that happened on Peachtree Drive South.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is investigating a homicide on Peachtree Drive South in Southwest Charlotte.
Investigators say officers responded to an assist Medic call for service on October 7th shortly before 11am when they discovered a man who was shot. Medic pronounced 24-year-old Curtis Lampkin deceased at the scene.
CMPD says the case is active and ongoing. They are asking anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly to a homicide unit detective. The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
