Discussion:
Gusty northwest winds will keep it feeling chilly today with highs only reaching the mid to upper 50s this afternoon. Snow will begin to fall across the mountains this afternoon with a winter weather advisory in effect from 1pm until 7am Saturday for Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties. Snowfall totals will range from 1-4″ for most and  4-6″ across elevations above 5000′ and gusts up to 40-50 mph. Travel could be dangerous with slick roads and reduced visibility due to blowing snow.
Friday will be the coldest day of the week with morning lows falling to the low 30s, but wind chills will make it feel like the teens and 20s across the region. Highs will struggle to break out of the low 50s. It will remain breezy through the start of the weekend, but temps will begin to warm back int othe low 60s by Saturday. Warming up early next week with highs topping out near 70 by Monday. A cold  front could bring some wet weather back to the region midweek which could make travel tricky for Thanksgiving, but moisture looks limited at this time. It is something to watch over the next few days.
