Man arrested after being found with 30 grams of methamphetamine

LENOIR, N.C. – A man was arrested after allegedly being found with over 30 grams of methamphetamine in Caldwell County on Thursday night.

Around 11:50 p.m., deputies pulled over a Cadillac vehicle for a routine equipment violation near Smoky Creek Road and Union Grove Road in Lenoir.

When the Cadillac came to a stop, the driver, 47-year-old William Buff Jr., allegedly fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

K9 Angie was deployed to track Buff’s path and found a plastic bag containing approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine, deputies said.

Buff was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine. He was placed into the Caldwell County Detention Center with a $50,000 secured bond.

“I am thankful for the watchful eyes of my deputies and their commitment to getting drugs off the streets of Caldwell County,” Sheriff Kevin Bean said.
