Father files wrongful death lawsuit against CMS and son’s former principal

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The father of a local teen who was shot and killed after he got off his school bus is suing. Keon Taylor’s son Nahzir was shot and killed in November 2022. Police say he was shot by a Rocky River High School classmate. The suit claims that the school knew the shooter had a “propensity for violence,” and had threatened to kill 17-year-old Taylor that afternoon, and that the school did nothing to protect Taylor.

Taylor was sent home on his school bus as usual, and met by the accused shooter as soon as he stepped off the bus. He died a few days after being shot. Then-principal Kwame Stith and the CMS board are named as defendants in the suit.
