Flurries are possible in Charlotte Monday evening

Isolated snow flurries are likely across the piedmont Monday night into Tuesday morning

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It has been 1,039 days since Charlotte has seen measurable snow, and that snow drought could come to an end early Tuesday morning. While the chance is low, there is a small chance.

A weak system is diving in from the Midwest as of Monday afternoon. The cold air will be in place, but the question is will will we have enough moisture? The air at the surface will be rather dry, therefore, little accumulation is expected.Charlotte Dma Cam

WHEN: 10 pm Monday – 4 am Tuesday. Snow will start in the mountains this evening, but flakes could fall across parts of the foothills and northern piedmont by 10 pm.

WHERE:

  • Mountains: This is where we will see accumulation. A couple inches are possible in the higher elevations.
  • Piedmont: Charlotte could see flurries between 11 pm – 4 am. A dusting of snow is possible, but this will be very isolated. It is possible some areas see 0.1”.

This will not impact anything, but could end our two year snow drought!
