CHARLOTTE, NC – A suspected impaired driver faces several charges after police say he hit and killed a man near Uptown Charlotte and kept driving.
The deadly hit-and-run happened around 2:12am on Sunday on West Morehead Street.
Investigators say Ryan Zadrozny and two other people were crossing the street in a crosswalk when a car speeding down the street hit Zadrozny.
He died at the scene, while the other two people with him were not hurt.
Police found the damaged car a few blocks away. They say the driver took off when they tried to stop him, and then crashed the car.
They arrested Mache Darby. Police say excessive speed and impaired driving contributed to the accident.
Darby is charged with felony death by vehicle, felony hit & run, felony flee to elude and reckless driving.
