Discussion:
Snow showers are tapering off this morning leaving some slick spots where the snow fell fast and was heavy enough to accumulate. Snowfall totals up to 1.5″ recorded across the I-40 stretch with flakes flying as far south as Charlotte and Rock Hill overnight. We may not have seen measurable snow at the Charlotte Douglas Airport but it’s the first trace of snow that has fallen since January 29, 2022. Bitter cold air settles in today with highs only reaching the low 40s and overnight lows plunging into the teens and 20s. The record low for today is 20 and tomorrow is 18. A brief warm up will push temps near 50 Wednesday before another cold front brings back snow for the mountains Wednesday night into Thursday with dropping temps to follow across the area. This will drop temps back into the low 40s Friday. By the weekend, temperatures moderate climbing into the upper 50s with rain chances returning late Sunday into Monday.
