Discussion:
It’s a freezing start with temperatures in the teens and 20s areawide. We’ll get a little relief from the chill this afternoon with highs near 50, but don’t get too comfortable! Another cold front drives through the area Thursday bringing gusty winds and another blast of frigid air. A High Wind Warning is in effect for the High Country with sustained winds of 20-40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph possible beginning tonight. A quick burst of snow is possible for the mountains near the TN border with light accumulations possible. This could lead to some slick spots for travel Thursday morning. Otherwise expect a breezy day for the rest of the area with temperatures dropping fast Thursday night. Lows will once again fall into the teens and 20s Friday morning with highs struggling to break out of the low 40s. The first half of the weekend will remain chilly with highs reaching the upper 40s Saturday with subfreezing lows. But, warmer temperatures will return by early next week with highs back into the mid 60s by Tuesday. The warm up will be accompanied by some unsettled weather, so it will be something to keep an eye on over the next few days.
