The Baltimore Ravens suspended wide receiver Diontae Johnson for one game, saying that he refused to enter Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Johnson didn’t play in the game. The 28-year-old receiver hasn’t played much for the Ravens since being traded from the Carolina Panthers in October.
In four games with the Ravens, Johnson has logged one reception on five targets for six yards and zero touchdowns.
The Ravens lost 24-19 to the Eagles. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked about the situation after the game.
“There’s some moving parts that we’re going to have to figure out,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll just work it out and see where we’re at.”
Ravens Executive Vice President and General Manager Eric DeCosta announced the suspension Wednesday morning.
“We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team.
Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
We will have no further comments on this matter going forward.”
The Ravens are on a bye week before facing the New York Giants on December 15th.
