NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS — A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for the Mountains until 10 AM Friday.
A ‘Cold Weather Advisory’ is a new term being used by the National Weather Service to simplify weather communication. A ‘Cold Weather Advisory’ has replaced ‘Wind Chill Advisory’.Gusty winds and cold temperatures are expected to bring wind chills as low as 10 below zero to the mountains overnight.
Pets need to be indoors tonight and if you plan on heading out, wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves. The National Weather Service says, Values this cold can result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. In addition, frostbite can occur quickly if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.”
