Local woman’s home spray painted with swastikas and anti-gay slurs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A local homeowner is hoping she can fix the damage done to her home by vandals. Deborah McCullough says she found swastikas and anti-gay slurs had been spray painted on the side of her west Charlotte home and her HVAC unit last week. She is Jewish and has a family member who is part of the LGBTQ community.
She reported the damage to CMPD. She says officers stopped by Monday to check on her, but said they have no leads. McCullough’s security cameras were not working at the time of the incident due to an internet outage. She has this message for whoever did this: “Shame on them. No respect. It doesn’t affect them. They don’t have to deal with the fear that it causes not knowing who or why. And the financial ramifications that come with this,” she says.
McCullough’s insurance will not replace her siding. She is getting repair estimates from siding companies and has also started a GoFundMe here.
