CONNELLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Citizen complaints about illegal activity in the Connelly Springs community led to the arrest of an accused drug dealer.
Officers with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, NC Department of Adult Corrections and NC Department of Prisons State K9 were conducting a joint operation in the community on December 5th when they say they saw Jody Mitchell Cook drive by. Police say they recognized Cook and knew he was driving on a suspended license and was on active probation. They say 42-year-old Cook also had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, including tampering with his electronic monitor, and that he had actively avoided probation conditions.
Police pulled him over. During the traffic stop, a police K9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the car.
Investigators say that a search of the car revealed 12 grams of Fentanyl.
Cook was arrested and booked into jail. His bond has been set at $260,000 secured.
