MORGANTON, N.C. — The Morganton Christmas Parade, originally scheduled for tonight, December 10 at 6 p.m., has been postponed due to the threat of heavy rain and gusty wind. It has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 17.

An approaching cold front will trigger steady rain with the potential for heavy downpours and gusty wind this evening. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Heavy Rain: Downpours will intensify this evening, with rainfall rates of 1-2″ per hour possible
  • Flooding Risk: Heavy rain could train over the same area leading to localized flooding in low-lying or poor drainage areas
