Police: Teacher and teenager killed, six other students injured at private Christian school shooting in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A teacher and student were shot and killed by a teenager and six others were injured at a Christian school in Wisconsin, police say.

An initial news conference said five people were dead but police sent out a correction that two people were killed and the shooter, who was a student at the school, was found dead once officers entered the school. Police say no officers fired their weapons.

The shooting occurred at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison just before 11am local time, the state capital, police said.

Two students are currently in critical condition and four other students are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Madison police said in a statement. “More information will be released as it is available. We currently need people to avoid the area.”

The school has about 390 students, from kindergarten through high school, according to its website.
