Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest accused drug dealer

 

NEWTON, N.C. – An accused drug dealer is off the streets in Catawba County. Catawaba County Sheriff’s Office investigators say they seized a “trafficking” amount of fentanyl on Friday, January 3rd, while they were assisting NC Dept. of Adult Corrections probation officers.

The seizure happened at a home on Hope Road in Vale. Investigators say they also took 11 grams of marijuana and $1,939 cash.

Dirk Rodney Nixon was arrested and charged with Trafficking in fentanyl, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia and a Probation Violation.

He was issued a $515,000.00 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on January 6th. Sheriff Don Brown says, β€œGreat work by our investigators and partners with Probation. Working together, we continue our fight against people who sell this deadly drug.”
