Feds ask court to dismiss Shanquella Robinson lawsuit

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The federal government is asking a court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the family of Shanquella Robinson.

Robinson died in 2022 while on vacation in Mexico with six friends, who have since come to be known as the “Cabo Six.”

The Charlotte woman’s family filed a lawsuit against the Cabo Six and the federal government. Attorneys for the FBI and the U.S. State Department dispute claims that they did not act swiftly enough on the investigation. They cite their lack of jurisdiction in Mexico, where the alleged crimes happened.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
