Chambers hires former Panther Captain Munnerlyn as head coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The new high school football coach in the Queen City is a familiar face.

Julius L. Chambers High School hired former Carolina Panther and South Carolina Gamecock Captain Munnerlyn to be the next head coach.

With over 10 years of NFL experience, he had other opportunities but felt compelled to come back to Chambers.

“I had opportunities to go to the next level and things like that, but it’s something about these kids, man,” Munnerlyn said. “ The kids, that’s my heart. If I can help the kids, I remember always someone used to say ‘reach one, teach one.’ That’s something that I’d like to do. If I could help just one kid, show them that they can make it, I’d be happy.”

Munnerlyn is looking to win now. He brought another former Panther to his staff, defensive end Charles Johnson.
