Egg prices could continue to rise due to bird flu
You can expect to continue paying high prices for a breakfast staple.
A price outlook from the USDA estimates egg prices will increase about 20-percent this year.
Government data shows the average price of a dozen eggs was four dollars and 15 cents last month.
According to the consumer price index — that is about a 36-percent increase from last December.
The high price is being driven by the ongoing bird flu outbreak as well as inflation.
