LaMelo Ball to miss at least one week with ankle sprain

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Hornets announced that LaMelo Ball will miss at least one week after suffering a left ankle sprain against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Ball suffered the injury in the second quarter of Monday’s 112-107 loss. An MRI on Wednesday confirmed the initial diagnosis of a left ankle sprain.

The 23-year-old guard has been ruled out vs. the LA Clippers on Friday and will be re-evaluated in one week.

Ball is averaging the fourth-most points in the NBA this season at 28.2 per game. He’s also putting up 7.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game across 31 contests.

Ball was named the NBA Rookie of the Year during the 2020-21 season. He was an All-Star in 2021-22 and is in contention to make the All-Star Game again this season.
