GASTON CO., NC – A lost hiker at Crowders Mountain State Park is safe, thanks to help from a police drone.
The hiker called 911 around 6pm on Monday saying they were lost. State Park Rangers went out looking for the hiker, but the person had a low cell phone battery and it stopped working.
Rangers then called the Gaston County Police Drone Unit to help. Two drone teams searched two areas.
The hiker say a drone that launched from the summit of King’s Pinnacle and started yelling for help.
The drone pinpointed their location using thermal technology and the drone pilots were able to help the rangers get to the hiker.
