Discussion:
Today will feel more like late April, rather than early February with record challenging highs reaching the mid to upper 70s. The record for Charlotte was set back in 1927 with a high of 76 for 2/4. A backdoor cold front will shift winds tonight, allowing a wedge to set up Wednesday. Expect cloudy skies, on and off drizzle and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s. The wedge wil begin to erode Thursday as high pressure shifts off the northeast coast. Once winds transition back out of the southwest, temps will push back into the upper 60s to lower 70s to close out the week. However, a slow moving front will stall near the region keeping the forecast unsettled with on and off rain chances as multiple upper level disturbances ride along the stalled boundary. The best opportunity for any storms will be Friday afternoon, but instability at this time still remains low. A stronger cold front will push through the area late Sunday, bringing back cooler temperatures early next week.
