Wake Co. judge rules in favor of Justice Allison Riggs in election battle

WAKE CO., N.C. – A decision in the legal battle following the 2024 elections in North Carolina. A Wake County superior court judge ruled in favor of Justice Allison Riggs Friday afternoon.

The ruling comes after GOP candidate Judge Jefferson Griffin attempted to throw out tens of thousands of ballots. During the election, Griffin trailed Riggs by 734 votes after multiple recounts. His lawyers alleged that tens of thousands of people cast ballots who were not eligible to vote and others violated state laws. The judge disagreed.

Due to a recent state supreme court ruling, neither candidate may be declared the winner until all legal appeals are decided. Riggs has repeatedly called on Griffin to concede defeat.
