Record number to take Monday after Super Bowl off

WASHINGTON, D.C. – If you’re planning on taking Monday off because of the Super Bowl you’re not the only one.

USA Today is reporting on a new Harris poll that found more than 22.5 million people across the U.S. plan to miss work. That’s up 40% from a year ago.

But researchers also found that only 2% said they planned to call in sick, while another 2% said they planned to ‘ghost’ their employer and just now show up.

The poll estimates that nearly 13 million will take a pre-approved day off. Just over 4 million will swap shifts with a co-worker so they don’t have to work on Monday.
