Charlotte’s Tin Kitchen Celebrates 15 Years as a Local Culinary Icon
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In February 2025, Tin Kitchen will mark its 15th anniversary—an impressive milestone for a brand that helped shape Charlotte’s food truck scene and has now evolved into a full-service catering business. From its humble beginnings as a food truck serving up bold street food to becoming a beloved name in Charlotte’s culinary community, Tin Kitchen has become synonymous with quality, innovation, and community spirit.
Tin Kitchen played a key role in launching Charlotte’s now-thriving food truck community, helping create Food Truck Friday in the South End. After recognizing the city’s growing demand for catering, Tin Kitchen expanded to offering full-service catering, including corporate events and high-profile weddings. Their wedding catering, in particular, has become highly sought after, with couples across the region choosing Tin Kitchen for its unique blend of flavors and exceptional service.
Despite challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Tin Kitchen has continued to thrive, adapting to the changing market and growing alongside the city it calls home. With a focus on high-quality food, innovative menus, and strong team values, the company is poised for continued success in both the food truck and catering spaces. This speaks to the Tin Kitchen team’s tenacity, as it is estimated that 50% of food trucks fail within the first year of operation, and around 80% fail within the first three years.
“We’re incredibly proud to reach this 15-year milestone,” says David Stuck, founder of Tin Kitchen. “We’ve expanded over the years but are still very much rooted in our community.Charlotte has changed a lot, and we’re honored to have grown with it.”
The brand has built a reputation as a reliable catering partner, with delicious food at a great value. Tin Kitchen’s story is not just about the food but also about the team. Many employees have been with the company for over a decade, seeing it as a home and a career, not just a job.
“We’re not just another catering company; we’re part of Charlotte’s fabric. Our focus has always been to make good food and treat people well—whether they’re customers or part of our team,” David Stuck adds. “That’s what keeps us going.”
