CONOVER, N.C. – Troopers are searching for the driver responsible for fatally hitting a bicyclist in Catawba County on Friday night.
It happened around 8:50 p.m. on US 70 near 4th Street SW.
Troopers said 58-year-old Donald Ricker was riding his bike east on US 70 when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Ricker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers believe the vehicle was either a 2018, 2019 or 2020 Ford F-150, F-250 Super Duty or a Ford Mustang.
No further details were released.
