NTSB reveals possible miscommunication in fatal crash between helicopter and American Airlines Jet
WASHINGTON, DC — More details have released after last month’s midair collision near Washington, DC.
According to the NTSB, the crew of the Black Hawk helicopter involved might not have heard instructions from the air traffic controller– to pass behind the plane. The crash killed 67 people.
The NTSB chairwoman, Jennifer Homendy says the recording from the Black Hawk helicopter cockpit suggests the crew may have missed the key instruction just before the January 29th collision.
The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder from both aircrafts are being examined.
A preliminary report on the crash is expected by the end of the month.
