27 arrested in Burke County’s ‘Operation: RED’

BOONE, N.C. – Deputies arrested 27 individuals last week following Burke County’s “Operation: RED,” the sheriff’s office announced.

Multiple agencies collaborated on the operation that focused on high-risk offenders complying with court orders. The sheriff’s office said they also gathered information on narcotics activity, gang involvement and ensuring sex offender compliance.

By the end of the operation, deputies successfully conducted 30 of 39 searches, leading to 27 arrests.

Among those arrested were three probationers, who were found maintaining a dwelling for narcotics, including one involved in trafficking fentanyl.

Authorities seized multiple firearms and issued 19 charges for drug-related offenses, including possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

Multiple cases are still under investigation.
