Man sentenced for machete attack

LANCASTER, S.C. – A Lancaster man will spend the next 10 years in prison.

A judge sentenced David Gordon for attacking someone with a machete.

The attack happened on April 16, 2024. Gordon used the machete to cut a man several times on the arm.

The victim was seriously hurt and transported to the hospital, but survived.

Gordon was found guilty of first-degree assault and battery and received the maximum sentence.

“This case involved a senseless attack on one member of the community by another,” Sixth Circuit Senior Assistant Solicitor Stephanie Wood said. “Too often we see violence result in tragedy. The attack could well have ended with the victim losing his life. We are glad we were able to present this case to the jury and that justice was served today.”
