21 civil service employees resign from DOGE over Musk mandates
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 21 civil service employees have resigned from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE. The employees say they refuse to use their technical expertise to dismantle critical public services. The staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter that they, “Swore to serve the American people” and uphold their oath to the constitution across presidential administrations, but it has become clear they “can no longer honor those commitments.”
Those resignations come as many Americans have concerns about the cuts that DOGE is making to federal agencies.
North Carolina Congresswoman Alma Adams tells WCCB Charlotte of the cuts, “They’re going to impact families. It’s going to impact our schools. It’s going to impact our veterans, our nursing homes.”
The staffers who resigned worked for what was once known as the United States Digital Service. Musk called the story “fake news” and said the staffers would have been fired if they didn’t resign.
