A recent national poll found a growing skepticism among Americans toward the leadership in the tech industry.
Approximately one in every three respondents don’t trust any of the major tech CEOs, according to the new research from Howdy.com. Additionally, more than four in five Americans are worried about corporate involvement in the U.S. government.
Elon Musk was a popular name in the research. The poll found that 75% of Americans believe he is the most influential CEO. However, he is also voted the least trustworthy tech CEO.
Mark Zuckerberg was voted the most disliked.
On the favorable side of things, PayPal was voted America’s most trusted tech company with 63% having a positive opinion.
Below are some additional findings from the poll:
- Meta was specifically named by 1 in 5 respondents as needing more government regulation
- X/Twitter and Meta face the steepest trust deficits, with nearly half of respondents viewing them negatively.
- 4 in 5 Americans want tech companies to do more to combat misinformation
- 2 in 3 Americans believe tech CEOs have “a lot” of influence in government
- 64% want less involvement of tech CEOs than what’s currently happening
