Judge declares mistrial after jury can’t reach verdict in Adonis Smith trial
CHARLOTTE, NC – A judge declared a mistrial Tuesday in the murder trial of Adonis Smith.
Smith is one of three suspects charged in the 2019 murder of Kendal Crank.
Crank was caught in the crossfire of a gun fight in North Charlotte when two groups got into a gunfight in rush hour traffic.
Smith admitted to shooting the 27-year-old but no intentionally.
Jurors deliberated for more than seven hours. During the deliberations they asked the judge for copies of the jury instructions, and then sent a note saying they absolutely could not reach a verdict.
