Girls in STEM Summit returns to Charlotte for year three

CONCORD, NC – Girls in STEM, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is hosting the 3rd Girls in STEM Summit on Saturday, March 22, 2024, at LendingTree Headquarters.

This inspiring event, held in honor of Women’s History Month, continues its mission to engage, motivate, and equip girls with the confidence and skills to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).Β 

With the theme β€œInspiration Through Imagination,” the Summit will bring together female STEM leaders and professionals who will lead interactive exhibits, conduct hands-on activities, and share their career journeys to inspire the next generation.Β 

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Moogega “Moo” CooperΒ 

πŸš€Β A real-life β€œGuardian of the Galaxy,” Dr. Moogega “Moo” Cooper is NASA’s Planetary Protection Lead for the Mars 2020 Mission.
Dr. Cooper plays a crucial role in ensuring that Earth’s contaminants don’t interfere with Mars and that the red planet remains safe for scientific discovery. After graduating high school at just 16, she went on to earn a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at 24 and has since become a leading figure in space exploration and planetary protection.Β 

A passionate advocate for STEM education, Dr. Cooper willΒ share her inspiring journey and insights on breaking barriers in STEM, overcoming challenges, and shaping the future of space exploration.Β 

What to Expect:Β 

  • Engaging Exhibits & Hands-On Activities: Interactive experiences include robotics, coding, 3D printing, virtual reality, flight simulation, race simulation, circuitry, and CPR training (subject to change).
  • Powerful Speaker Lineup: Past keynote speakers have included Miss USA 2022, Morgan Romano, a chemical engineer. This year’s keynote, Dr. Moogega Cooper, will bring her incredible experiences from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to the stage.
  • Industry Representation: Women leaders from Volvo Trucks, Trane Technologies, Ally, Duke Energy, Businessolver, Queen City Robotics, and more will share their insights and offer interactive experiences at booths designed to spark curiosity and excitement.
  • Open to All Students: While the event is designed to encourage girls to explore STEM careers, all students plus guardian are welcome to attend and participate.Β
