- Fire Weather Concern Midweek
- Warming Up through Mid Week
- Thursday Cold Front
- More Rain Chances this Weekend
Discussion:
We’re starting the morning with a few lingering showers and temps in the upper 50s across the Piedmont. These light showers will continue to drift east but should clear out around sunrise as drier air moves in behind the cold front. Once the rain moves out, today will be noticeably cooler and breezy. Northwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph will make it feel even cooler with afternoon temps only reaching the upper 50s to low 60s — BIG change from even yesterday.
High pressure will build in and dry air will stick around through midweek. Temps will warm up quickly Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s to near 80. Gusty winds and low humidity could elevate the fire danger, so best to hold off on any outdoor burning. A cold front arrives Thursday bringing scattered showers to the forecast and another cool down to close out the week, along with gusty northwest winds.
Looking ahead to the weekend, we’re keeping an eye on a weak system that may bring some rain, but models aren’t fully agreeing on how much yet. If we miss out on rain chances, fire weather concerns could return Sunday with dry air settling back in.
