Discussion:
Today will be the warmest of the week with highs topping out near 80 — about 15 degrees above normal. It’ll feel great outside, but the combo of dry air and gusty southwest winds this afternoon will create an increased fire danger. Humidity levels will fall to 15-25%, making it easy for a spark to get out of control. Please avoid any outdoor burning.
Overnight a weak cold front will move in, bringing spotty rain chances from west to east through the morning. Rainfall totals will remain light, under .25″, so it won’t help much with the ongoing drought. Winds shift out of the northwest and ramp up behind the front — gusts could top 40 mph, especially across the mountains. Temperatures will drop sharply with highs dropping to the 50s and 60s by the end of the week. Snow will be likely across the higher elevations with a few inches possible above 4000′.
Friday will be sunny and cooler with temps in the 20s and 30s to start the day. The weekend will be warmer though with highs back into the low to mid 70s under sunny skies. The next decent shot at rain doesn’t arrive until Monday.
