CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season and will undergo surgery on his right ankle, the team announced Friday.

Ball, 23, will also undergo a minor procedure on his right wrist.

Ball has dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season, resulting in him missing 25 games so far this year.

The team said Ball is expected to make a full recovery and have a complete off-season regiment of work. He is expected to resume basketball activity in four to six weeks.

The decision to address both injuries ends Ball’s 2024-25 season. He averaged 25.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game across 47 outings.

The Hornets are currently 18-54, the third-worst record in the NBA, with 10 games remaining this season. This will be the ninth-straight year the Hornets have not made the playoffs.

Ball is under contract with the Hornets through the 2028-29 season.
