CLT moves rideshare location with little notice, causing confusion
CHARLOTTE, NC — A big change at the Charlotte-Douglas Airport caused a lot of confusion on Thursday.
As of Thursday morning, rideshare drop-offs and pick-ups are now located on the inner lane of the upper-level departures.
CLT made the announcement on X a day earlier. Saying it would “improve traffic flow, enhance operational efficiency and make better use of available curb space”.
Charlotte native and frequent flyer, Debbie Hunter, doesn’t like the newest change to Charlotte-Douglas Airport.
“I was really thrown off when it said on my rideshare app that I needed to be in departures, and I automatically walked down to arrival because my feet naturally took me there,” explained Hunter.
Rideshare driver, Giacomo Antico, waited for several minutes in the new location until he realized his passengers were directly below him.
“This is the first pick up for me here, upstairs. But all the passengers are downstairs,” said Antico.
Several passengers we talked to, including Hunter, told WCCB their drivers were going downstairs to pick them up. Some even cancelled the trip, leaving passengers with a cancellation fee.
We reached out to CLT officials with a list of questions. They told us they are working on those and should have them on Friday.
