Discussion:
After a chilly start this morning (but not quite theΒ freeze we expected thanks to the breeze and more clouds), we’ll enjoy a beautiful sunny and dry day. Highs wil remainΒ below average — topping out in the mid 60s this afternoon. Clouds build in tonight with lows falling into the mid 40s.
A developing low pressure system to ur west will bring an increase in moisture and scattered showers to the area beginning Thursday — just as highs build back toward the low 70s. The rain will begin in the mountains and foothills late morning before pushing east through the afternoon and evening. A few rumbles of thunder possible, but no severe storms expected locally. Rain chances will continue Friday with totals up to 1″ north of I-40 and .25-.50″ for areas south.
Behind the system, colder air filters in Friday niightΒ into Saturday. That may be enough for a few snow showers above 4,000 feet in the high country early Saturday morning — something to watch for anyone making spring hiking plans this weekend. Plan on breezy and cooler conditions Saturday with highs in the low to mid 60s before temps warm back near 70 by Sunday.
Next week will be dry and even warmer as highs race back near 80 by Tuesday.
