Highs on the rise
Outside of a few mountain showers on Tuesday, rain chances remain at bay over the next five days.
Just one more chilly night. Frost Advisories are in effect for most of our Piedmont and Foothills counties this Saturday night as lows will dip into the 20s and 30s across the board. Mecklenburg, Union, Chester, Chesterfield, Lancaster, and York counties are advisory-free this evening, but pets and plants should still come inside. Highs cruise near 70° around the Metro Sunday afternoon as winds shift out of the southwest. The southwesterly flow becomes even stronger on Monday; wind gusts will approach 30 mph at times as temperatures soar well into the 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills. As usual, the High Country will lag behind near 70° to kick off the workweek.
A moisture-starved cold front will approach from the northwest on Tuesday. While scattered showers are a strong possibility in the NC mountains, not much rain – if any – will make it eastward. While this system won’t be much of a rainmaker, it will bring another round of noticeably cooler air. Highs will hang around 70° in the Queen City Tuesday through Thursday as lows dip back into the mid-40s. The mercury makes another recovery by the end of the week; highs will spurt back into the mid-80s through next weekend.
