Police investigating three overnight homicides

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD is investigating a deadly shooting on Eastway Drive, the third homicide in less than eight hours.

It happened around 6 a.m. Sunday morning in the 200 block of Eastway Drive near North Tryon Street.

Police said 23-year-old Javier Lee Martinez Hernandez sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

This is the third homicide that happened overnight that CMPD is investigating.

The first happened around 10:30 p.m. near the Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown. Police said the victim, 31-year-old Qualo Trevon Danials, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The second happened shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4800 block of Wallingford Street in south Charlotte. When police arrived, they located 37-year-old Stanley Alfonzo Williams II suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Williams was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead.

All three homicides are under an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak to a homicide detective directly.
