Sunny & comfy through midweek

A cold front pushes into the Carolinas by Tuesday morning, but rain chances won't extend past the High Country.

Sunny skies and stiff southwesterly winds have shoved temperatures into the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills this Monday afternoon, but our newfound warmth won’t last long. A cold front will push into the Carolinas from the northwest by Tuesday morning, bringing noticeably cooler temperatures, but not much in terms of rain; any shower activity to start the second day of the workweek will be limited to the High Country. While the Metro likely won’t see anything fall from the sky, clouds will build in early Tuesday morning before clearing in the afternoon as highs struggle to clear the 60s. Our mountain counties will have a hard time getting much above 50° as northwesterly flow keeps the clouds around through the day.

Lows will bottom out in the 30s in the High Country and 40s everywhere else waking up Wednesday morning. Highs will once again rise near 70° despite the chilly start across the Piedmont and Foothills. Expect a similar day on Thursday before southwesterly flow returns to the Carolinas by the end of the week. Afternoon temperatures will once again soar into the 80s on Friday, setting a trend that continues into the weekend. Rain chances will remain low through at least the next five days.
