Real ID deadline approaching
WASHINGTON, D.C. – You have a little more than two weeks before the Real ID deadline takes effect.
The new federal rules go into effect May 7th.
That’s the date the Department of Homeland Security is set to enforce the deadline for Real ID.
It comes after years of pushing it back.
The Real ID Act passed by congress in 2005, enacted the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the federal government enhance security standards for identification.
