Heat claws back into Carolinas
Highs approach 90º in the Metro for the final day of April on Wednesday.
April’s final weekend is closing on a beautiful note, but the steamy summerlike feels won’t be gone for long. Lows dip into the 40s and 50s overnight into Monday morning before highs return to the upper 70s across the Piedmont and Foothills in the afternoon. Southerly winds continue the warming trend into the lower 80s in the Metro on Tuesday before rising near 90º for April’s finale on Wednesday. Outside of a stray shower or storm Wednesday afternoon, rain chances remain low over the next three days.
More significant rain chances come into frame by Thursday as a disturbance approaches from the west. We still desperately need a good soaking to put a dent in the moderate drought that continues to grow across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, but it doesn’t look like this will be the system to do that. That said, scattered showers and storms are possible through the back half of the workweek into the first half of May’s first weekend. After a hot day on Thursday in the upper 80s, temperatures slink back closer to 80° heading into the weekend.
