Storm chances return midweek
AM Headlines:
- Heating Up
- More Storms Late Week
- Refreshing Cool Down Sunday
Discussion:
A ridge parked over the southeast will keep the forecast warm and quiet today. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s with just a stray storm chance for the high country. By midweek, high pressure will move further offshore, allowing more heat and humidity to build. This will also lead to more afternoon isolated storms — especially north of I-85. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s through Thursday with lows only falling into the mid 60s.
Storm chances ramp up Friday and Saturday as a cold front approaches the area. A few stronger storms are possible but the overall severe threat still looks low with damaging wind gusts the biggest concern. Cooler, drier air rushes in Sunday with highs back in the mid 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s as humidity falls.
