CHARLOTTE, NC – A Charlotte mother is charged with felony child abuse, accused of beating her 8-year-old son with an extension cord.
According to court documents, the boy told a neighbor at an apartment complex on Avebury Drive, that his mother, 34-year-old Porsha Mack, hit him several time across his body with the extension cord.
The neighbor called police on Tuesday, and said the boy was naked and covered in welts and bruises.
The court documents say the boy told the neighbor that his mother had gotten upset with him earlier and then she began to strike him repeatedly with the extension cord.
Mack told officers that the boy has a history of aggression. She also said he had been suspended that day for hitting a child at school.
According to the court documents, Mack said the boy grabbed her and made her fall and that they had an argument that progressed into a fight.
She said she got a belt to discipline him and hit him at least one time before he ran out of the apartment.
Mack was given a $50,00 bond and has been released from jail.
