Discussion:
We start off today with a quiet morning, but things will change this afternoon as showers and thunderstorms begin to develop across the region. A cold front moving in will trigger strong storms later today. The risk for severe weather is slightly higher west of I-77 with damaging wind and localized flooding the biggest concerns. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, keep an eye on the radar for any developing storms.
By Saturday, the risk for strong storms will increase, especially in the afternoon and evening. An isolated risk of severe storms will cover the region, with damaging wind and heavy downpours once again the primary threats. There’s potential for localized flooding in areas that see repeated downpours.
After the stormy weekend, calmer and drier conditions will take over as the cold front settles off the coast, with mild temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s and no major weather disruptions through early next week. It will be a nice break from the active weather we’ll see kicking off the weekend.
