BELMONT, NC – A wrong-way driver is dead after crashing his car into a van on Interstate 85 in Gaston County early Friday morning.
Belmont police say the crash happened around 1:30am on I-85 northbound near mile marker 25.
Investigators say 23-year-old Jorge Narino of Charlotte died after the car he was driving in the wrong direction slammed into a van.
Medic took the driver of the van to the hospital with minor injuries.
Northbound lanes of I-85 were closed for several hours during the investigation.
